WHAT:

SCANIS’ first product is the MAMMEX™ MammoCAD™ system designed to address the needs of the screening mammography market. As the first product designed to be both cost efficient and space efficient, this product is especially targeted to centers with both cost and space constraints.

We are located in Foster City in the heart of Silicon Valley, California half way between San Francisco and San Jose. This has the advantage of giving us access to the latest technical and analytical resources available.

BACKGROUND:

SCANIS, Incorporated has developed patented advanced image analysis software and systems that have been shown to detect pre-cancerous tissue and cancerous tissue in mammograms. SCANIS' first product is the MAMMEX MammoCAD System. This product represents a significant breakthrough in CAD (computer aided detection) and incorporates the collective knowledge of leading medical imaging physicians. The MAMMEX MammoCAD system automatically scans, evaluates, and identifies mammographic features associated with tumor masses and microcalcifications not always seen by radiologists. In a study of 12,860 patients, CAD was shown to increase the detection of breast cancer by over 20%

SCANIS technology has been developed utilizing the collective knowledge of noted physicians at the University of California San Francisco and Stanford Medical Centers. Pre-clinical and laboratory tests have shown that the MAMMEX can provide an improvement in radiologists’ ability to interpret mammograms and diagnose breast cancer.

MAMMEX proves its worth in another continent.

In a recent European evaluation, mammograms from two clinical sites were studied. The mammograms in question show cancer now, but were missed in a double-reading by two different radiologists two years ago. The MammoCAD system detected the potential cancers in all of the two-year old mammograms. This underscores the product’s potential value in early detection of breast cancer.

The MAMMEX MammoCAD has been in the development pipeline for five years. Our product has been developed in conjunction with practicing radiologists and is fully complementary with the workflow in the mammography suite.
